In late November, mobile
developer Trevor Eckhart released a YouTube video that proved hidden
Carrier IQ software was intentionally logging keytaps on his HTC EVO
handset. Carrier IQ software was revealed to be installed on millions of
mobile devices from multiple carriers and manufacturers, which sparked
intense speculation regarding exactly whose data, and how much, was at
risk. The Carrier IQ scandal is still ongoing, but there have been some
significant developments recently.

That’s the speculation by a Citadel Securities analyst.
As Verizon ends its unlimited data use plans for new customers, Sprint stands alone as the only national carrier to offer an unlimited data plan. The Citadel analyst makes a good point in saying that Verizon’s move to tiered plans puts Sprint in a prime position to snap up disenchanted smartphone users.
