Weight Watchers' New Formula: Mobile App to Help Users Shed the Pounds
Since its founding in 1963, Weight Watchers International has become one of the most successful
weight loss programs in the world. Impressively, the company
has managed to boost membership by 64% since 2006, even in the face of a
global recession. The reason? A revamped formula and a focus on embracing new
technologies to reach consumers. One of these new technologies is the Weight
Watchers Barcode Scanner app, a system that allows users to scan barcodes in
the grocery store and quickly calculate their "point" value. The
new app was developed exclusively by Mobiquity, and is designed to
completely streamline the point-counting process, eliminating the need for recording
points in a book. The app also remembers previously scanned items for easier meal
planning. The app is available for iPhone, and Android.
AT&T Officially Pulls Out of Merger with T-Mobile
Well, it's finally over. After months of backlash, investment wrangling,
and FCC/DOJ investigations, the AT&T-T-Mobile merger is dead. This is a huge blow to AT&T:
instead of the increased spectrum it was looking forward to, it must now pay
T-Mobile's owner, Deutsche Telekom, $4 billion in cash and spectrum access. The FCC
has claimed that the merger would have vastly reduced competition and
investment in the wireless space, and now that it's dead, other
companies are already courting T-Mobile as a potential partner in the
wireless industry. Both AT&T and Deutsche
Telekom have lashed out at US regulators, claiming that the deal was never
given a chance from the start.

Santa Gives Market Share to Andriod and iOS, Facebook Mobile Ad Rumors, and More
Android and iOS Dominate Mobile
This holiday
season, Santa favored Apple and Google with more mobile market share
than he did other companies. Both of their platform's presence grew by 30 percent
to own 82 percent of the market combined. Android now has 53 percent of
that, while Apple reclaimed its 28 percent. Next year is expected to
seal the fate of many platforms such as the new Windows Mobile,
BlackBerry, and the soon-to-be open-source webOS.
Even though the market share of Android is greater, the Apple App Store creates more value for programers. Three-fourths of developers studied by Flurry, a mobile app analytics company, started out writing code for the iPhone first. According to Flurry, this might be because devs make $1 from iOS apps for every 24 cents they make on Android apps. Some good news for everyone. More apps are being published every month for all platforms.

Purpose, Commitment Vital For App Success
